Subangan Provincial Museum

Subangan Building

MATI CITY, DAVAO ORIENTAL - Subangan Museum opens to the public on January 8, 2014 in the Provincial Tourism Complex, City of Mati. The concept of creating a museum was ignited when a 20 ton sperm whale drifted into the shore of Governor Generoso on June 2010. The 53-feet mammal which serves as the museum’s centerpiece is considered the largest in the Philippines and the seventh largest on display in the world.

Subangan is derived from the Bisayan word, "Subang", which means “Sunrise” as the first rays of the sun hits the country at this province.

Meanwhile, intending to spread the Culture, History and Natural wonders of the province to all while making it as an income-generating establishment, the provincial government offers affordable admission.
